Blockbuster Games of 2011

Batman: Arkham City

Batman: Arkham City builds upon the intense, atmospheric foundation of Batman: Arkham Asylum, sending players soaring into Arkham City, the new maximum security “home” for all of Gotham City’s thugs, gangsters and insane criminal masterminds. Set inside the heavily fortified walls of a sprawling district in the heart of Gotham City, this highly anticipated sequel introduces a brand-new story that draws together a new all-star cast of classic characters and murderous villains from the Batman universe, as well as a vast range of new and enhanced gameplay features to deliver the ultimate experience as the Dark Knight.

Dead space 2

Dead Space 2 is a third-person horror shooter video game for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC. It is the sequel to Dead Space, and was released on January, 2011. The game follows Isaac Clarke, a survivor of the Aegis VII incident, who had been admitted to an asylum located aboard the Sprawl. All hell breaks loose when the Necromorph infection spread in the Sprawl. Isaac must evade the Government while fighting off the Necromorphs in his attempt to escape the Sprawl.

Dirt 3
DiRT 3 will boast more cars, more locations, more routes and more events than any other game in the series, including over 50 rally cars representing the very best from five decades of the sport. DiRT 3 delivers mud, sweat and gears world over: from the intense weather-beaten rally stages of Europe, Africa and the US, to executing performance driving showcases and career challenges where car control is pushed to spectacular limits.

Witcher 2
The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings is the sequel to developer CD Projekt\'s mature-themed fantasy role-playing game based on the works of author Andrzej Sapkowski. The second installment about the Witcher, Geralt of Rivia, features a mature storyline defining new standards for thought-provoking, nonlinear game narration. A new, modern game engine, responsible for beautiful visuals and sophisticated game mechanics, puts players in the liveliest and most believable world ever created in an RPG. A captivating story, dynamic combat system, beautiful graphics, and everything else that made the original Witcher such a great game are now executed in a much more advanced and sophisticated way. The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings also features an original, brutal combat system that uniquely combines different tactical elements. Fight your way with swords or use magic and spells to slay your enemies as you try to solve the mystery of the assassination attempt on the king.

Fifa 12

FIFA 12 brings to the pitch the game-changing new Player Impact Engine, a physics engine built to deliver real-world physicality in every interaction on the pitch. Revolutionary gameplay innovations inspired by the real-world of Football make FIFA 12 deeper and more engaging. All-new Precision Dribbling delivers a higher fidelity of touch on the ball for attacking players, while Tactical Defending fundamentally changes the approach to defending by placing equal importance on positioning, intercepting passes and tackling. Plus, CPU players have been infused with Pro Player Intelligence, the next generation of player intelligence and performance.

Crysis 2
Crysis 2 bears the weight of heavy expectations on its shoulders. PC gamers want a new system-crushing game to show off their hardware, and console players were promised the "best-looking game ever." In the wake of Modern Warfare's ascension, Crysis fans worried that the series' expansion to consoles would lead to a narrow, dumbed-down experience.Crysis 2 sidesteps the excessive simplification of recent shooters with Nanosuited grace. It mixes destruction with beauty, and manages to deliver a more focused experience than its predecessor while retaining the building blocks of what made the original Crysis unique. Crysis 2 is the kind of game that speaks in superlatives -- and even when it stumbles, it's quick to recover, always pushing forward to another amazing moment.

Assassin's Creed: Revelations
Assassin's Creed Revelations presents the most immersive experience available in the series to date and the culmination of Ezio's adventure. In Assassin’s Creed Revelations, master assassin Ezio Auditore walks in the footsteps of his legendary mentor, Altaïr, on a journey of discovery and revelation. It is a perilous path – one that will take Ezio to Constantinople, the heart of the Ottoman Empire, where a growing army of Templars threatens to destabilize the region.

Gears of War 3
At the former, Gears 3 ultimately succeeds, especially in its rich suite of Multiplayer content. Even the singleplayer campaign somehow manages to feel fresh despite rather conservative changes and a palpable sense of deja-vu coloring the majority of the campaign. As for the latter? Shakespeare this ain't, and Gears 3 struggles at times with its forced attempts at heart-string pluckery, but I can forgive it as much; gore-starved guns adorned with toothy chainsaws easily atone for any cheesiness suffered along the way.

Spider-Man: Edge of  TIME
Shattered Dimensions was the best Spider-Man game in years, and though Edge of Timeis more of a spiritual successor than a direct sequel, all of the best elements are making a return. As with Shattered Dimensions, you'll switch between Spideys to save the world and shoot webs all over gangs of bad guys. Gameplay alternates between present day and 2099, with actions in one world affecting the other.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3

Modern Warfare 2 broke every record in the book when it sold 11.9 million units in 2009, and Black Ops managed to do even better, selling 13.7 million a year later. The Call of Duty franchise is huge, and offerings like Strike Packages and an all-new Survival Mode put Modern Warfare 3 in a position to be bigger than ever. Even with competition from Battlefield 3, expect Modern Warfare 3 to be one of the biggest sellers of the season.

Need For Speed: The Run

If Forza's a little too straightforward for you, look no further than Need For Speed: The Run. The game takes place in a massive race across the United States, and the environments will blow your mind. From cities to mountains, the game's tracks are some of the most unique in any racer, and they're topped off with graphics running on the same engine as Battlefield 3.

Portal 2

Portal 2 is an action shooter game from Valve Software that draws from the original formula of innovative gameplay, story, and music, which earned the original Portal more than 70 industry accolades.Portal 2 is an action shooter game from Valve Software that draws from the original formula of innovative gameplay, story, and music, which earned the original Portal more than 70 industry accolades. The single-player portion of Portal 2 introduces a cast of dynamic new characters, a host of fresh puzzle elements, and a much larger set of devious test chambers.

Battlefield 3
It delivers scorching multiplayer, fitting of its decade-long pedigree of famously expansive big-team battles, but stumbles over a generic single-player campaign that feels like a different game.
While DICE may not deliver a memorable story here, it doesn't need to when Battlefield 3's online warfare raises every bar imaginable, delivering one of the best multiplayer experiences of the year. I doubt Battlefield purists will complain much about the campaign, honestly; I know you're enlisting in this battle to bring down entire armies online.
